Taking advantage of AwardWallet’s features couldn’t be easier. Simply create your account, link your loyalty programs and you’re done. You can refresh your account balances easily from within the app or on the website and even set up weekly or monthly emails to get your balances sent directly to your inbox.
If you have any travel reservations in your accounts, those will also be automatically imported. You can easily see your flights, hotels and rental car reservations all in one place.
How To Track Award Program Balances
One of the most useful functions of AwardWallet is to track all the loyalty programs points you have. To get started, all you have to do after logging in to your new account is click on the “Add Award Program to Track” button. You will be shown a very long list of all the programs AwardWallet is able to track for you. After selecting one, you will be asked to connect that account.
Each loyalty program account page will vary slightly as they all require different data points in order to integrate with your AwardWallet account. While you are required to enter your username and password for each account you want to track, your sensitive data is encrypted.
You may also choose whether you want AwardWallet to store your passwords in its database or on your computer.
Once you finish linking an account, it will be listed under the accounts section, where you can view all the accounts you’ve added. You can also view all your balances and any relevant expiration dates at a glance.
How To Track Vouchers, Discounts, Free Nights and More
As you continue adding accounts you’d like to track, AwardWallet will also start monitoring any vouchers, discounts, free night certificates, statement credits and other options associated with the accounts you link.
For example, if you link The Platinum Card® from American Express (terms apply), your $200 airline incidental fee credit will be listed on your account so you can quickly see whether you have used it or not. It also shows how much longer you have that benefit for.
If you want to keep an eye on your hotel awards, you will also find them listed under each of your hotel loyalty accounts after adding them to AwardWallet.
Additionally, if you have any airline coupons, vouchers, certificates, discounts or lounge passes, your account will display all of these at a glance along with their expiration dates.
If there any items don’t automatically pull into the account, you can add them by going to “Manually Track” and clicking either “Award Program”, “Gift Card” or “Travel Voucher.” As the name suggests, these will not automatically update, but you may still find it helpful to have them all in one place.
Expiration Warnings
It can be incredibly frustrating to realize that the hard-earned perks of your loyalty programs have expired before taking advantage of them, particularly when you have several accounts to keep track of. This is another important feature of AwardWallet. Besides displaying expiration dates next to every benefit listed, the system will also send you email reminders and push notifications to your mobile device 90, 60, 30 and seven days before expirations so you do not forget. You can even export the expiration dates to Google Calendar, iCal, or Outlook.
Real-Time Travel Alerts
Another function that sets AwardWallet apart is its ability to deliver real-time notifications. Depending on the airline and its integration with the reservations on your account, it can alert you of delays, gate changes, flight cancellations and even the baggage carousel for your luggage.
Some of these notifications may even come in before your airline alerts you, and best of all, there is nothing you need to do beyond linking your airline loyalty accounts.
Merchant Lookup Tool
Beyond tracking your program balances, you can also take advantage of the credit card optimization tools within AwardWallet, which can help you maximize your award earning as well as understand your credit card usage and spending patterns.
The Merchant Lookup Tool allows you to search for a merchant in order to understand how a purchase would code when using your credit card. This may help you decide which of your credit cards will earn the most in rewards. There is also a Merchant Category Code Reverse Lookup (in beta mode) where you can choose a credit card and a bonus category, and it will show you a list of merchants that should qualify for that category.
Other Functionalities
AwardWallet has a few other functions that might be helpful. Besides tracking your account balances and travel itineraries, you can share them with your friends and family. You can choose to have all of your reservations automatically integrate with AwardWallet, or manually import your trips.
Another useful tool is a table with transfer times for most transferable points programs, as well as AwardWallet’s own valuation for points and miles. A historical Travel Summary Report shows interesting statistics for the flights you’ve taken and the countries you’ve visited during various timeframes. Finally, the Award Hotel Research Tool gives some great ideas on potential hotels with exceptionally high redemption values that may interest you. These can all be found under the tools menu.
AwardWallet offers a paid award concierge service through its website. You can use this service by filling out a form and an AwardWallet travel concierge will contact you for more details.
